Emergency Brakes or Parking Brakes are the last way to stop your vehicle in an emergency situation where your other brakes are unresponsive. It’s also an important tool to keep your vehicle stationary when parked on a hill. Often drivers will forget to disengage the emergency brake after parking, putting excessive wear on the system which reduces the system’s braking potential. You can try braking at low speed with your parking brake to see if is responding appropriately.

Most emergency brake repairs average $350. This usually involves replacing the Parking Brake Shoes. These are similar to drum brakes but are located underneath the rotor. Although the emergency brake is in a tricky location to work in, with a lift we can take care of your brake problem in half a day or less. Like with all brake repairs, there is always the expectation for hazardous brake dust so all our technicians wear proper safety equipment and clean the area to ensure your safety when the vehicle is returned to you.
